Russians, it seems, are in for an abnormally hot summer in 2026. This was announced by Russia's Hydrometeorological Centre.
According to forecasters, above-normal temperatures are expected in June, July and August.
In June, above-normal monthly average temperatures are expected in the Northwestern and Volga federal districts, in the Urals Federal District, and in the northwest of Krasnoyarsk Krai. It will be colder than in June 2025 in Primorsky Krai and on Sakhalin.
In July 2026 it will be warmer than usual in the east of the Northwestern, Central and Southern federal districts, as well as in the Volga Federal District, across most of the Urals Federal District and on the Taymyr Peninsula. It will be hotter than in July 2025 in the east of the Northwestern Federal District and the west of the Urals Federal District.
In August it will be warmest in the Altai, the Republic of Tyva, across most of Yakutia, in the north of Khabarovsk Krai and the west of Magadan Oblast. It will be cooler than last year — in the east of the Northwestern Federal District, as well as in the north of the Urals.
Recall that July 2025 was the third-hottest July in the history of weather observations worldwide. The global average temperature that month was +16.6 degrees.
In Moscow, last July also stood out for its extreme heat: on some days thermometers climbed all the way to +35 degrees.
