Late August is a rare window when the beach season is still in full swing, but prices for some holidays have already started to fall. In 2026, the difference is particularly noticeable on the Black Sea coast, in Abkhazia and Turkey: cheaper dates begin to appear from around August 25–27, while Egypt sees a more moderate decline and the UAE becomes noticeably cheaper only in September.

The main reason is the end of the school holidays. Family demand starts to decline, and tour operators begin filling the remaining seats and hotel rooms for the final weeks of August. But the effect varies by destination: in some places, discounts appear as early as August 25, while elsewhere a meaningful drop doesn't come until September.

Turkey — the Sea Is Still in Peak Season, but Prices Are Starting to Fall

Turkey remains one of the strongest options for late August. The sea is warm, the beach season is in full swing, and on some dates package prices are already below the August peak.

According to the Level.Travel aggregator, the average price of a trip from Moscow for August 2026 is around 58,800 rubles for two people, compared with 66,600 rubles in July. The cheapest August packages start at around 46,400 rubles for two.

The most interesting dates are the final days of August. For example, packages departing on August 29–30 are already appearing in searches with stays extending into early September, when demand is traditionally lower.

The actual savings depend on the resort and hotel. Demand on the Antalya coast remains high at the end of August, so don't expect prices to collapse. But the difference between a departure in the middle of the month and one after August 25 can be significant.

Antalya, Kemer, Side, Alanya and Belek are all good choices for a beach holiday at this time of year. The sea remains very warm, while daytime temperatures are still firmly in summer territory.

Abkhazia — One of the Most Noticeable Price Drops

Abkhazia becomes cheaper toward the end of August more noticeably than many international destinations. On different travel aggregators, departures on August 25, 28, 29, 30 and 31 were already showing lower prices, with savings of up to 17%, or roughly 9,000 rubles compared with the average rate.

On some resorts, the reduction is even more pronounced. For Alakhadzy, departures between August 26 and 31 showed potential savings of up to 22%, while for Sukhumi the reduction reached 20%.

At the same time, the sea in Abkhazia remains warm at the end of August. In Sukhumi, the average water temperature in August is around +28°C*, while in September it remains at roughly* +26°C*.*

That makes late August particularly attractive here: prices are already falling, but the beach season is still going strong.

Sochi — Prices Are Falling, but It Isn't Suddenly Cheap

Russia's Black Sea coast also starts shedding some of its peak-season premium after the busiest weeks. The change is particularly noticeable toward the end of August, as some families begin heading home.

August nevertheless remains the most expensive time of year in Sochi because demand is still high. By the end of the month, prices begin to ease, with more affordable options appearing in Lazarevskoye, Dagomys and Adler.

Travel aggregators are already showing packages with arrivals between August 26 and 31. For example, six-night all-inclusive packages to Lazarevskoye departing August 26 are available from around 127,000 rubles for two, including flights.

Sochi is a good choice if you want a Russian resort and aren't looking for the absolute lowest price. If saving money is the priority, look beyond central Sochi to the surrounding resorts of Greater Sochi.

The sea remains warm at the end of August, at around +26–27°C. The main drawback is price: even after the seasonal decline, Sochi isn't necessarily cheaper than an overseas package offering a similar level of accommodation and meals.

Egypt — There Is a Discount, but Don't Expect a Major Price Collapse

Egypt is different because its beach season is largely unaffected by the end of the Russian summer. There is therefore no dramatic drop in demand after August 25.

Prices for some dates do nevertheless fall. In August 2026, packages from Moscow for two people start at around 83,900 rubles, while departures on August 25, 27, 28, 29 and 31 were among the more attractive options, with savings of up to 11%, or around 7,000 rubles.

Egypt isn't the destination for hunting down the biggest discount; it's the choice for reliably warm water. At the end of August, the Red Sea remains extremely warm, and the beach season will continue for several more months.

Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh are both suitable for a classic beach holiday. Temperatures are high in August, so the end of the month is somewhat more comfortable than its beginning, but this is still very much a hot-weather destination.

The UAE — The Real Savings Start in September

The UAE can look attractive at the end of August, but it isn't the destination to choose specifically for those final August days. The biggest price drop comes in September.

The average cost of a package from Moscow to the UAE in August 2026 is around 99,000 rubles for two people, compared with approximately 80,800 rubles in September. In Dubai, the difference is even more pronounced: about 98,200 rubles in August versus 77,900 rubles in September.

The reason is obvious: August in the UAE is an extremely hot month. In Abu Dhabi, the average air temperature is around +36°C, while the water is roughly +35°C.

If your vacation has to fall in the final days of August, the UAE can make sense if the price is right. But if your dates are flexible, shifting the trip to the first half of September makes more sense: prices fall, while the most extreme heat gradually begins to ease.

Why Are the Last Days of August Cheaper?

The main factor is demand. School holidays are ending, and families with children start returning home. Tour operators then have a harder time filling flights and hotels, so discounts begin appearing on selected dates.

That doesn't mean every August 28 departure will automatically be cheaper than one on August 20. Prices depend on the load factor of a particular flight, the hotel, length of stay and meal plan. That's why dates that extend into early September can be particularly good value.

For example, a departure on August 29–31 with a return on September 6–10 can often be more attractive than a seven-night package that falls entirely within August.

That's why it's worth comparing not only departure dates but also the length of the trip. Sometimes adding two or three days in September costs less than spending the same number of days during the final week of August.

How to Find the Lowest Price

For late August, it's best to check several neighboring dates — August 25 through September 2. A shift of just one or two days can mean a difference of several thousand rubles.

  1. Check departures between August 25 and 31.

  2. Compare returns in the first days of September.

  3. Check nearby departure airports if that is an option.

  4. Compare a package holiday with booking flights and accommodation separately.

  5. In Sochi, look beyond the city center to Lazarevskoye, Loo, Dagomys and Adler.

  6. In Turkey, compare Antalya, Alanya, Side and Kemer — prices can differ substantially for the same period.

Which Option Should You Choose?

  • For maximum savings — Abkhazia. Prices are already showing a noticeable decline toward the end of August, while the sea remains warm.

  • For a proper overseas beach resort — Turkey. The season is still in full swing, but prices are beginning to move away from their August peak.

  • For a holiday without leaving Russia — Sochi. Prices are lower toward the end of the month, especially outside the city center.

  • For reliably warm water — Egypt. Discounts are moderate, but the beach season continues well into autumn.

  • Considering the UAE — wait for September. August is hotter and more expensive, while average package prices fall noticeably once September begins.

The key price window in 2026 falls roughly across the last seven days of August and the first few days of September. For travelers who can shift their vacation by even two or three days, this period offers the best chance of finding a wider selection of cheaper options.

And when it comes to the combination of price, warm water and weather, Turkey remains the strongest overseas choice for late August, while Abkhazia offers the most noticeable seasonal price drop.
