The plot of the fantasy film unfolds in the Urals, in the Principality of Perm. Logically, the filming took place there as well. To be precise, part of the footage was shot near Moscow, and part – in the village of Usva in the Perm Territory. Large-scale sets were built there, including a wooden kremlin – the Cherdyn Kremlin.
Filming lasted a year and a half. And when it was over, the sets were not taken down but left as a tourist attraction – it was hoped that the structures would become a new landmark. The filming locations even appeared on maps for those wishing to find them.
The film did not particularly delight the critics, but the nature it captured is simply stunning. And we decided to take a look at how the places where «The Heart of Parma» was filmed look now, in particular, the Cherdyn Kremlin.
In the film it is shown in summer, but in the middle of winter this place has acquired its own charm – the snow-covered roofs under a low gray sky look completely different from how they did on screen.
It feels as if you can hear the silence reigning there. Not a sound is heard – only the crunch of snow, the rustle of drifting snow and the creaking of frozen wood.
Judging by the trodden paths, the Cherdyn Kremlin has found its admirers after all. For it is still very interesting – to visit the set of a real film.
