One can only guess how many more unstudied creatures live in the seas and oceans. Researchers made yet another astonishing discovery off the coast of Antarctica. In fact, they were searching for Antarctic feather stars. But this is what they came across.

In their paper published in CSIRO, the researchers named this creature the «sea strawberry» because of the features of its body structure: a ribbed triangle from which 20 different arms extend, with the upper ones covered in a sort of feathers.

Moreover, according to the scientists, there could have been even more arms: the creature's body bears bumps and markings, like scars where limbs have been broken off.

The researchers clarified that the new species of creature can live both in the depths, 20 kilometers below the surface, and at a depth of just 20 meters. Its distinguishing feature is considered to be its large size; in all other respects it is similar to sea cucumbers.
