India Has Built the World's Largest Office for 65,000 Employees: Here's What It Looks Like

For eighty years, the Pentagon rightfully held the title of the world’s largest office building. The total area of its grounds is about 600,000 square meters, and the number of employees is roughly 26,000 people.

This year, however, the Pentagon will have to yield its «biggest of the big» status to a new office complex in India. As early as November, a giant building where the employees of a diamond exchange will work is being put into operation.

The mega-office, located in the city of Surat, about 250 kilometers from the country’s capital, has an area of 650,000 square meters. It is expected to accommodate up to 70,000 employees. Specialists of various levels will work in the giant office, from gem cutters to traders.

India ranks among the world leaders in the number of diamonds cut per year. More than a million people work in this industry in the country, and the majority of the world’s mined diamonds are sent specifically to India for processing.
