Traditionally, planting cucumber seedlings in the greenhouse begins as early as mid-April. But calendar spring alone isn't enough for this. It's important that the optimal temperature is reached inside the greenhouse, otherwise there's a risk the crop will simply die.
The thing is, cucumbers are very sensitive to cold, so they can only be planted once stable warmth sets in outside. If the air temperature in the greenhouse is below +15 degrees, the plants' growth will slow many times over. And a prolonged cold spell will cause outright stress, as a result of which growth will halt for several weeks.
That's why it's important that the air temperature in the greenhouse is at least +15°C during the daytime. At night it should not drop below +10°C.
You should also take into account how warm the soil is. If at planting the temperature of the beds turns out to be below +8°C, the root system will simply die, writes the Zen channel «Vashe Khozyaystvo».
