Tenth place in the world for length goes to the border between the USA and Mexico. It stretches for 3,141 km. How important is this land border? Every day, about 50,000 vehicles and roughly 25,000 pedestrians cross the San Ysidro border crossing between the USA and Mexico. In terms of traffic, it is considered the busiest land border in the world.

9. China – India

The border between these states stretches for 3,380 km. Some of its sections – Aksai Chin and the state of Arunachal Pradesh – have been the subject of numerous disputes. Even though they are located in Indian territory, China has repeatedly claimed rights to these areas. To this day, this remains the main territorial dispute between India and the PRC.

8. Bolivia – Brazil

The 3,400 km border between Bolivia and Brazil begins in the Pantanal and ends in the rainforests of the Amazon. It passes through deserts, forests and some cities. The first treaty establishing the border between the two countries was signed in 1867.

7. Mongolia – Russia

In seventh place is the border separating Russia and Mongolia. The length of the land border is 3,485 km. Along it there are ten official border crossings, two of which are railway crossings. Incidentally, Mongolia has only two land borders – with China and Russia.

6. Russia – China

The length of the Chinese-Russian border is 3,645 km. It is divided into two sections – a short western part (about 50 km) and a long eastern part. Several regions of Russia border China: the Altai Republic, Primorsky, Zabaikalsky and Khabarovsk Krai, as well as the Amur and Jewish Autonomous Oblasts.

5. India – Bangladesh

The border, which spreads over 4,053 km, is mostly unfenced. Border fences cannot be installed along the entire length of the border because of a number of geographical factors. Therefore, fences exist only on some sections, so border soldiers of both countries constantly patrol the border.

4. China – Mongolia

We have already learned that Mongolia has a land border with both China and Russia. The border with the Asian country is much longer – 4,677 km. Incidentally, this is the longest land border in Asia.

3. Argentina – Chile

The land border between Argentina and Chile is the third longest in the world. Spread over 5,308 km, it separates Argentina from Chile along the Andes and on the islands of Tierra del Fuego, where the resort city of Ushuaia is located.

2. Kazakhstan – Russia

Second place in the ranking is taken by the land border between Kazakhstan and Russia. It covers a distance of 6,846 km. The border line between the two states was formed back in 1930, but acquired international status only in 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The land border between Canada and the USA is officially recognized as one of the longest in the world. Along this border, which is 8,893 km long, lie thirteen American states and eight Canadian provinces. Interestingly, the border between the countries is considered one of the safest. For such a great length there are few customs posts and border fences.
