In the Soviet years, cafeterias often served a rosehip drink. If you miss this treat, take note of the recipe. It is far easier to make than it seems.
You will need:
- water — 1.5 l,
- sugar — 4–5 tbsp,
- rosehips — 70 g.
Put the rosehips into a saucepan and pour in a glass of water. Set the pot on the stove and cook the berries until soft. If you cover the pot with a lid, this will take about 20 minutes. A few minutes before the cooking is done, mash the berries with a masher, and once the time is up, bring them to a puree.
Then add the sugar and pour in the remaining water. Bring the mixture to a boil again, then immediately remove it from the heat and strain. Once the drink has cooled, it can be served right away. And if you want a richer flavor, do not strain the mixture right away but let it steep for a couple of hours, writes the Dzen channel Rumkin.
